20 killed, 35 injured due to electrocution in India Updated at: 0735 PST, Wednesday, May 06, 2009
NEW DELHI: At least 20 passengers were reported to be killed and 35 injured when a over crowded bus came into contact with a high tension electricity cable at Koili village under Nanpur police station of Sitamari district of the State this afternoon.
The bus was going from Pupri to Muzaffarpur. The bus came in contact with 11,000-volt high voltage cable.
Injured passengers have been admitted to local hospitals. Senior officials have reached on the spot and rescue operation is on, Indian media reported.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed concern over this incident and ordered a high level inquiry into the incident. The deceased passengers were traveling on the roof of the bus.

MUMBAI: India’s Supreme Court on Friday extended the parole of Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Varun Gandhi till May 14.
